i think the pinky finger would be the perfect appendage to lose. it really has no huge function for the hand (unlike the opposable thumb), and asthetically, most people wouldn't notice at a first glance. come to think of it, i think the story would be cooler if you lost your pinky in some situation WITH the dinosaur. perhaps this would count as some sort of evidence, because, come on, nobody would cut off their pinky just to make up a good story!
